Pearl in Yucantan, Manana on Isla Mujeres

On Isla Mujeres mythological home of Ixchel, goddess of moon, birth and medicine, there are white sands, turquoise waters, turtles and many, many tourists. The narrow streets chosen for consumerism is a battleground for creating attention to trinkets, food and drink. It is a tricky thing then, to create respect for native culture and the modern touch visitors on the island crave in a tasteful, attractive way.

The restaurang Manana has managed splendidly. Sited Downtown on the corner of calle Mariposa and Avenue Guerrero the interior is a celebration to strong colours and mexican motives in a fresh and spacey way. Lovely service in a creative mix between spanish and english, food served is mexican inspired dishes complemented with vegetarian alternatives. Food is as colourful as interior. Breakfast fruitsallads to live for.

There is also wellfilled second hand bookstore with leftover books in all languages for a reasonble price, including quite some in swedish. I just finished Anne Rice Blood and Gold witch happened to be the one book in the vampire series I had not read.

Thanks Manana for all the lovely meals and a great time.
